Our Declaration

They Are My Kids!™ is more than a phrase.

Children are being shaped every day. The only question is who will do the shaping. If parents do not lead in the lives of their children, someone else will. Culture will. Institutions will. Algorithms will. Peers will. The loudest voice in the room will. A child without strong parental leadership does not remain unled. That is the line in the sand.

They Are My Kids™ exists because parents are not secondary participants in a child’s development. Parents are primary. Long before institutions shape a child, a home shapes a child. Children learn love, trust, resilience, truth, character, responsibility, and belonging first through family. That responsibility cannot be outsourced.

They Are My Kids™ is not a slogan. It is not branding. It is not a political chant. It is a declaration of responsibility. They are not the government’s kids. They are not the culture’s kids. They are not the algorithm’s kids. They Are My Kids. I am responsible for raising them. I am responsible for teaching them what matters. I am responsible for preparing them for life. I am responsible for helping them become capable, grounded, contributing adults.

For generations, families and institutions worked together to raise children. Schools educated. Communities supported. Parents led. But over time, many parents found themselves drifting to the sidelines while more voices claimed influence over the values, identity, and direction of their children’s lives.

Many parents began to feel uncertain, isolated, or pressured to surrender leadership they never intended to give away.

This movement exists to restore confidence, clarity, and responsibility to parents. Not through anger. Not through fear. Not through politics. Through leadership. Through structure. Through the belief that parents are called to be the steady voice in a noisy world.

Schools have a role. Communities have a role. Mentors have a role. But none of them replace the parent. None of them carry the primary responsibility for the formation of a child. Parents do.

They Are My Kids™ is part of the broader Futures Fulfilled family of initiatives dedicated to helping families raise capable, life-ready young adults. The book, Raising Children Capable of Leaving Home, reframes the challenge facing families today and calls parents back into leadership. ReadiKids provides the practical system, tools, and structure families can use at home to build life readiness in children. Parents United creates community and support for parents walking this path together. Futures Fulfilled exists as the nonprofit umbrella that protects and advances this mission — not to profit from fear or frustration, but to equip families with practical support, encouragement, and direction.

This is not activism. This is not conflict. This is responsibility.

Children need leadership. Parents must lead.
